Session Three
22 Oct 2523
Ship's new registry and salvage title is probationally approved, and the ship receives and official connection and address on C-CAN. Video message from Traffic control advises them to immediately acknowledge all messages from COTC and CRTC. Immediately after acknowledging that message, another one comes in from name here at Heart of Cethalara, looking to hire the ship to transport relief supplies out to Centerra Station and refugees back.
Group reviews what they know/have learned about Valeri, then calls Blackbird Holdings to see if they can talk to Sven Ramirez. He's not there, so they leave a message for him. They then do some digging on her social media, and find some posts from a place called Strange Fruits Cafe in Neotitania down the well. They decide to go visit there.
At Strange Fruits, they talk with several baristas who have never seen Valeri, but tell her that the next shift coming on might. They wait an hour, sipping coffee and other snacks, until the next shift arrives. The first girl to arrive does remember Valeri, and tells them she was a semi regular who used to spend time writing at the cafe. She got to read some of Vaeri's novel, and thinks it was pretty good. She wasn't able to be any more helpfu, but was sorry to hear that Valeri was missing.
On the way back to the ship, the group does some grocery shopping for the ship.
23 Oct 2523
The next morning, the crew wakes up to several video messages.
- Sven Ramirez called telling the group that Valeri wants him to pick up the kids.
- Sugar Minori called from Fontaine de Jouvence salon, saying she was returning Deyanna's call, and yes she had hair appointments available.
The crew decides to make appointments with Agent Novacek, Sugar Minori and Sven Ramirez, and completely blow off Officer Serrano.
Gable and Morgan go to visit Sven at Blackbird Holdings. He tells them that Valeri is on a “secret” assignment for the firm, and he is supposed to watch the kids. Morgan immediately doesn't trust him, it takes Gable a bit longer to see past his facade. Sven invites them and the kids to dinner at his place that evening. They accept, with no intentions of actually attending. As they are leaving the appointment, they see a news story about a woman's body being pulled from the river.
Andromeda and Averyn take the kids to visit Sugar at the Fontaine de Jouvence salon. Sugar is delighted to see the kids, and reveals that she can get a message to Valeri, and that Valeri has been worried about the kids. She tells them in no way should they trust Sven. She tells them that she'll be in touch about setting up a meeting with Valeri. As they are leaving the appointment, they also see the news story about a woman's body being pulled from the river.
The kids are sent back to the ship in the care of * Scruffy while Gable, Morgan, Andromeda and Averyn go to their appointment with Agent Novacek. Agent Novacek treats them a little suspiciously at first, getting their side of the story and reviewing their backgrounds before he divulges that he suspects Valeri was set up, most likely by Sven. He tells them that if they talk to Valeri, they should urge her to turn herself in, as it will go easier. He also reveals that he suspects that the body that was pulled from the river might be Valeri, he is visiting the coroner's office in the morning to find out and will be in touch.
Everyone returns to the ship. As they arrive at the ship, they are approached by a man in a Michi Transport uniform. He identifies himself as Witari Minori and gives them a set of coordinates where they can rendezvous to meet with Valeri. Shortly after Sven realizes the group has stood him up, the ship begins receiving calls and messages from him. They blow off the calls from Sven, but do call Sugar, and leave a message at the salon for her apologizing for missing their last appointments, and to make new appointments for the twins, Watari and Minori. Officer Serrano calls the ship several more times, they blow those calls off, too, figuring they are not in his jurisdiction.

Sugar calls the group back first thing in the morning and tells them to make an appointment for services from Michi Transport and Captain Minori. The group does, and tug services are scheduled for that afternoon. Watari meets up with them, and pulls them into an upper maintenance orbit and opens up a comm channel to Valeri for them. He does not discose where Valeri is, but the group can clearly see she is on the float (in freefall). Andromeda and Valeri discuss what has happened, with Valeri telling her that Sven was having an affair with her best friend, Kasaty and that Officer Serrano is his best friend. Then a hardline is set up between the ships so the kids can talk to their mother since Watari can't allow them on his tug.
Scruffy, Captain and ED1-50N use the time to begin installing the Needle Drive, managing to get 3/5ths of the hardware in place before they are hauled back to port.
25 Oct 2523
The crew talks with Agent Novacek, telling him that Valeri is alive, and that Sven was having an affair with Kasaty, like Valeri asked her to. He reveals that the body pulled from the river was Kasaty Tucker. Once again, Novacek urges the party to get Valeri to give her self up to him.
Serrano leaves a few more messages, at first with veiled threats that get more and more severe until he outright threatens them with a search warrant. Shortly after the last message, the group learns that Sven has been arrested for the murder of Kasaty. Novacek calls the group again to tell them this, and to let them know that Serrano has gone off grid, and may be dangerous. He begs them to get Valeri to turn herself in. The group agrees, but tell him it takes time to get a message to her.
They call Michi Transport and set up another maintenance session with Watari. That appointment is scheduled for the next day, 26 Oct.
